Robot Learning Lab

The Robot Learning Lab headed by Prof. Dr. Abhinav Valada is part of the Department of Computer Science and the Cluster of Excellence BrainLinks-BrainTools. We seek to advance the foundations of robot perception, state estimation and control using learning approaches to enable robots to reliably operate in more complex domains and diverse environments. Our focus is to develop scalable lifelong robot learning systems that continuously learn multiple tasks from what they perceive using a diverse set of modalities and experience by interacting with the real-world.

10.05.2020 Our EfficientPS is ranked #1 for panoptic segmentation on the popularly challenging Cityscapes benchmark leaderboard and advances the state-of-the-art on KITTI, Mapillary Vistas, and IDD.
04.03.2020 We are organizing a workshop on Self-Supervised Robot Learning at the Robotics: Science and Systems Conference (RSS’2020).
15.01.2020 We are co-organizing a workshop on 3D-Deep Learning for Automated Driving at the IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV’2020).
19.12.2019 Abhinav Valada becomes a member of the Cluster of Excellence BrainLinks-BrainTools, funded by the excellence initiative of the German Federal and State Governments.
11.12.2019 The University of Freiburg was selected as one of 17 ELLIS centers of excellence in machine learning in Europe. Abhinav Valada is part of the newly established Freiburg unit.
01.08.2019 Abhinav Valada will serve as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L) journal.
